Hide & Seek Environmental & Land Based

The Lincolnshire Rural Activity Centre is a site of 30 acres in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, with a large building that consists of an Equestrian Centre and classroom.
The Wolds Consortium are offering an Environmental and Landbased Diploma for learners aged 14-19 based here at LRAC. The project will fund the building of two observation hides with hidden cameras, access routes, a pond area to attract wildlife and a fully equipped classroom. The whole project will provide a 'Nature Watch' type of experience for learners.

What will the project involve?

The aim of the Hide and Seek project at LRAC is to enable learners to take a learning journey through the natural environment using both traditional and hi-tech methods and resources.
It aims to promote a hand’s on approach to the flora and fauna seen around this amazing site. Taking a walk through the sunken woodlands and delving beneath the waters will reveal what's hidden in the ponds. Take in the views of the Lincolnshire Wolds an area of outstanding natural beauty and look out on to the Eastern Coastal Strip.

What's in it for me?

For learners:
By taking the learning journey, you will develop your knowledge of the natural environment. It has a practical approach and is very interactive. There is the opportunity to study wildlife through a lens; it could be through a microscope or the interactive cameras that capture activities located in woodlands, meadows, ponds and in hedgehog and bird boxes. This is based in an interactive hide where learners can direct the cameras to where they want to view which is shown on a split screen monitor. For local businesses:
For employers this is a great way to make contact with potential employees of the future as the Diploma aims to equip young people with the necessary skills required for working in the environmental sector.

How do I get involved?

The Lincolnshire Rural Activity Centre is open to anyone who is interested in the natural environment.
